Ammobium Alatum Bikini Grower Fact

Ammobium Alatum Bikini

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Life Cycle:Annual

Familiy, Origin:Asteraceae, Australia

Sitelocation:Full sun

Garden Height:35 cm,13,78 inch

Flower Size:2 cm,0,79 inch

Crop Time:Plug crop: 4-6 weeks; Flowering pots: 8-9 weeks; Cut flower production: 9-12 weeks

Seed Form:Raw Seed

Seed Count:1786 K/g

Sowing Method:2-3 seeds per plug, can be sown directly into pots

Germination:4-7 days at 15-20 ˇăC in media with low soluble salt levels and pH: 5.5-6.5. Cover seed lightly with vermiculite after sowing. Keep soil slightly moist but not wet.

Plug Culture:From Stage II* reduce the soil moisture, but the plug should not dry and reduce the temperature to 10-15 ˇăC. Do not let soluble salt level rise above 0,75 EC. Start fertilization at 75 ppm nitrogen in a well balanced formula. During Stage III and Stage IV fertilization levels can be increased to 100-150 ppm.

Growing On:4 weeks after sowing transplant 1-3 plants into a pot (8-12 cm). Plant cut flowers in 20x20 cm space.

Media:Use a well-drained, growing substrate with 20-30 % clay, 0-10 % perlite, 1-2 kg/m3 complete balanced fertilizer, iron-chelate, micronutrients, pH: 5.5-6.5. Field: well-drained, moderate nutrition supply, humus, sandy loamy soils. Standard fertilization: 80-100 g/m2 slow release fertilizer.

Temperature:Grow at 10-15 ˇăC. Ammobium does not tolerate frost.

Fertilization:Moderate fertilization levels are required. Fertilize the crop weekly with 80-100 ppm nitrogen (at 3 kg/m3 slow release fertilizer in substrate), using a potassium balanced fertilizer (N: K2O-ratio: 1:1,5). Avoid high ammonium and high nitrogen levels.

Cut Flowers:Cut flower stems can be harvested, when the flowers are just open and the yellow centre is not yet visible. Vase life: 8-12 days. For the cut flower production the flowers may be dyed. The dried flower production is possible.

Cultural Hints:Plants for the pot production require a dry cultivation for a good compact plant quality. For cut flower production cultivate slightly moist but not wet.
